City-Wide Hunt (requires transportation)
Union Square : Fisherman's Wharf : The Embarcadero : North Beach
Corporate Team Building Versions Also Available (except for the city wide hunt)

REVIEW: "This is the second year in a row that we have used your hunts for our students who are members of the Public Service Academy at Clayton Valley High School. Last year we used the Embarcadero and Union Square Hunts and this year we went to North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf. The students had a fabulous time. Thanks for making this easy for me. Field trips are really a pain with so many details to work out. Your hunts made it possible to have a really "cool" activity for just a little money which allowed everyone to come." - Margaret Ljepava, Concord, CA
HOW
IT WORKS: This hunt can be done over the course of a full day or it can be broken down into several days. It’s your choice. There is no right way or wrong way. You make this hunt fit your requirements and the time you have. It's formatted in Microsoft Word so it's fully editable.
We’ve designed the hunt around 4 San Francisco neighborhoods (Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, The Embarcadero and North Beach) with 10 photo challenges in each neighborhood. In addition there are 25 items to find, a 25-question San Francisco trivia quiz, 5 ‘catch as catch can’ photo challenges that can be taken pretty much anywhere and 15 super bonus point photo challenges at various places throughout the city.
The teams will need to use public transportation or vehicles to complete this hunt. If they’ll be using public transportation, please add in some petty cash for them to pay for their tickets (http://www.bart.org will provide you with the costs of getting around our fair city)
AGE RANGE: Age 16 to adult. Can be used with younger teens but a few challenges may need to be edited.
NUMBER OF TEAMS: The number of team members per team should be geared to how they’re getting around. 5 people to a car = 1 team for example; you can have up to 10 people per team if they’re using public transportation. We recommend a minimum of 3 and no more than 10 members per team.
You can have teams as many as you think you can handle. Even a single team will work – just do it for the fun of it or perhaps compete against the clock by giving the team a certain amount of time to complete as many challenges as possible.
If you want to be part of a team, go ahead! Yes, you may have some inside knowledge of the challenges but you can make a rule that you can’t use that inside knowledge to help your team in any way.
Each team will receive a collection bag containing a digital camera (or smart phone), their challenge sheet - the hunt itself - and various office type supplies (pens, a clipboard...).
THE WINNING TEAM will have had the most fun as a team while collecting the most points. You’ll have 2 options with regard to tallying up points for each team. You can either enlist good support – this is especially true the more teams you have - to help you grade team efforts or the teams can grade each other’s efforts with you as the mediator when and if necessary. We provide tally sheets so you can keep track of team scores.
EXAMPLES: We provide lots of different types of challenges to complete to keep it interesting, engaging and fun, fun, fun!
- Take a picture of your entire team looking wicked and sexy or wickedly sexy or just wicked on what was once known as “the wickedest street on earth”. Where are you and why did the street have such a reputation?
- Take a picture of the team member who was born the furthest away from San Francisco with Dimitri Hadzi's Creazione sculpture. This team member must be in a similar pose to that of the statue – as best as he or she can interpret it.
- Set up a wedding scene photograph at the place where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio posed for family photographs on their wedding day (January 14th, 1954). This is a very specific place. You can see it from Washington Square Park

Due to the length of this hunt, we do not offer a corporate team building version. Still if you have the time, this will work for business conferences and events. Please contact us if you have questions.
HOW IT WORKS: This is a walking scavenger hunt for Union Square and Yerba Buena Gardens.
You'll need about 2 hours minimum for this hunt . Your group will be divided into teams of up to 10 people. Each team will receive a collection bag containing a digital camera, their challenge sheet - the hunt itself - and various supplies. They will then embark on the scavenger hunt, taking pictures, obtaining specific items, completing a creative project and a San Francisco trivia quiz. All the challenges are worth valuable points and there are some bonus point challenges as well. At the conclusion of the hunt, the teams will prepare an optional final presentation while you “grade” their challenge sheets to find the winners based on point total (award certificates are included with this hunt). THE WINNING TEAM will have had the most fun as a team while collecting the most points.
For the TEAM BUILDING VERSION of this scavenger hunt, there will
be added team meets where team members will move to other teams and additional
challenges (included) will be given out. At
the conclusion of the hunt, after the teams present a creative and inspiring
final presentation, we recommend you have a debriefing session using the team assessment form included with your kit.

- Collect an item to prove you visited the Union Square establishment with the red velvet couches, gilt-colored walls, cherubic women dancing on the ceiling and extravagant chandeliers. Their specialty drinks include Yellow Snow, Candy Cane and Strawberry Shortcake. And they only accept cash. This is a very specific location – no creative substitutions here.
- Trivia quiz question: What Francis Ford Coppola movie was filmed in the central plaza on Union Square and in what year was it filmed?

REVIEW: "I just wanted to follow up and let you know the Union Square scavenger hunt was a big success - you have a fantastic product! It was very easy to order and download, and all the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I've planned group activities for this team for several years, and we've done everything from white water rafting in Costa Rica to cooking classes in Cabo, and I think the scavenger hunt was by far the most popular, end easiest to coordinate, so thanks again for a great service!" -Deirdre Cook, Negociants USA, Napa, CA
NUMBER OF TEAMS or PARTICIPANTS: Unlimited number of teams with a minimum of 3 or 4 to a maximum of 10 people per team. We do recommend one facilitator/helper for every 2-3 teams to keep things running smoothly, especially when you grade team efforts and tally up completed challenges.
What if you only have a few people participating in scavenger hunt? Instead of dividing them into teams, you can keep them all on one team and have them race against the clock, giving the single team a time limit to complete each section of the hunt (photos, find items, etc.), report back to you for the next section and so on until the hunt is complete.
AGE RANGE: Age 16-18 to adult. Can be used with younger teens but a few challenges may need to be edited. Contact us with questions.
LENGTH OF THE HUNT: 2 to 4 hours, depending on the size of your group*: 5 minutes for opening instructions and team organization; 1 1/2 - 2 hours for the scavenger hunt and about 1/2 hour or more for the grading, (optional) team presentations and awards presentation. *The more teams you have, the more time it will take.
For the team versions of the hunts, allow 2 - 4+ hours, depending on the size of your group: 15-20 minutes for opening instructions, warm up game and team organization; 1 1/2 - 2 hours for the hunt and about 1/2 hour (or more) for grading, team presentations, awards and optional but recommended team assessment discussion.
PRE-HUNT PREP TIME: For up to 6 teams, you can put our scavenger hunts together in about 4-6 hours (includes shopping for supplies, reading the scavenger hunt and prepping the materials); as you add teams, you'll need to add time to the pre-hunt prep.
